Metaphor for Unsustainable Business Practices

This sign is a metaphor for so much of what we do in modern society and how we handle our processes.

The employees are in a store. There are customers waiting outside. It is still a few minutes short of the posted opening time. No one opens the door.

A customer presents a percentage discount coupon that is expired. Rather than using a discount to get a new regular customer the business makes an enemy by refusing to honor the coupon. Actually Darden's Restaurants (Red Lobster and Olive Garden) will accept expired coupons.

For safety there are complex rules for each step of a process. Why not just "Don't put your hand in or near the machine when it is running?"

Tell me some examples from your experience or contact me and tell me the name of your business. I'll give you some free examples about your type business.
