Trader Joe's Targeted

Trader Joe's has been targeted for wasteful food practices. I won't rehash the whole claim against Trader Joe's and others but will look at it from the Cowboy Safety viewpoint.

There is the economic issue that waste is bad for business. And there is the emotional issue that there are hungry people. To use the latest terminology there are people who lack food security.

The problem with giving away the food is that it will result in loss of sales. Giving away salvageable food would incur liabilities and would mean free food going to those who might otherwise buy it. Not a sustainable idea.

What is needed is to find a way to sell that food where possible, to find ways not to waste it and to possibly change buying paradigms.

This is a Cowboy Safety opportunity. Do you have some specific stories to share and possibly some ideas? If you are a food waster we can help you with solutions specfic to you and your location.
